SA's MotoGP Revolution: Unveiling the World's First Street Circuit in Adelaide (2026)

South Australia has secured the Australian MotoGP, marking a world-first for street circuits! The South Australian government has confirmed that the Australian MotoGP will relocate to South Australia in 2027, with the race set to take place on a street circuit along Adelaide's historic Grand Prix race track. This exciting development brings over 600 million global fans' attention to Adelaide, South Australia, and presents an unprecedented opportunity for the local community. But here's where it gets controversial... The decision comes a day after the Victorian government offered additional funding to keep the race at Phillip Island, which was refused. This sparked speculation that the MotoGP event might move to SA, and now it's a reality! And this is the part most people miss... The event will see the return of the full-length Adelaide Grand Prix street circuit, used in the Formula 1 era, with modifications to meet international safety standards. The circuit length will be approximately 4.195 kilometers with 18 turns, and is expected to see top speeds of more than 340 kilometers per hour. The current Supercars version of the Adelaide Street Circuit is 3.22km with 14 turns. So, what do you think? Do you think this is a great opportunity for South Australia, or do you think it's a missed opportunity for Phillip Island? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
