In the world of Fantasy Premier League, every injury update can dramatically shift the landscape of your team. As we dive into the latest team news for Gameweek 25, it’s essential to stay informed about player fitness, especially with key matches approaching. On a pivotal Wednesday, managers Daniel Farke of Leeds United and Sean Dyche of Nottingham Forest held press conferences to provide insights ahead of their team's Friday match.
With Leeds and Nottingham Forest set to clash this week, both coaches took the opportunity to give their updates earlier than their Premier League counterparts, creating a buzz around player conditions. Let’s break down the crucial injury updates shared by Farke and Dyche today.
IMPORTANT INJURY UPDATES FOR GAMEWEEK 25 FROM WEDNESDAY
- Leeds United: Anton Stach is likely sidelined, Bijol has returned to training, and Nmecha is doubtful for the match.
- Nottingham Forest: Doubts surround Sels and Hudson-Odoi, while Williams faces suspension.
LEEDS UNITED DETAILS
Leeds United may face challenges in Gameweeks 25 and 26 as they are expected to be without the services of Anton Stach due to a hip issue. Coach Daniel Farke mentioned that Stach might miss not just the upcoming game against Nottingham Forest but also the following fixture against Chelsea, estimating his recovery time to be around 10 to 14 days.
Farke stated, "The only negative news is that Anton Stach is struggling with some hip problems following the last matchday. It seems likely that he will miss the game on Friday and also the Chelsea match. That’s unfortunate, as he is a crucial player for us. The doctor indicates he could be out for at least 10 to 14 days, so it’s quite probable he won’t participate this Friday."
Another player, Lukas Nmecha, who has been dealing with a hamstring injury, is also expected to be unavailable. Farke provided an update saying, "Lukas Nmecha isn’t back in team training yet. We still have two days to assess him, but it seems unlikely he’ll be ready for this game. However, he is making progress."
On a positive note, Jaka Bijol, who has missed the last three Gameweeks due to a hamstring issue, has resumed training. Farke expressed optimism saying, "Jaka Bijol has returned to team training today. We will monitor how his body responds, but this is definitely encouraging news for us."
Additionally, James Justin appears to have recovered from a toe injury sustained last weekend, allowing him to return to team training as well. Farke confirmed, "James Justin is back in training. Thankfully, it was just a bruise and not a fracture. He will be available for the weekend, which is great news."
Farke also mentioned that Daniel James, who has been absent since late November, has completed a full week of training and could be in contention to play. "Daniel James is making strides, and that’s very promising news," Farke added.
However, Facundo Buonanotte, who has recently joined on loan, might not be ready to start just yet. Farke commented on his situation, saying, "He hasn’t had much playing time recently. Given that he wasn’t featured much for Chelsea or Brighton before, it’s unrealistic to expect immediate results from him. He is receiving our full support in training to reach optimal fitness and confidence levels, but ultimately, it’s up to him to seize the opportunity when it arises."
NOTTINGHAM FOREST INSIGHTS
On the Nottingham Forest side, Matz Sels (groin) and Callum Hudson-Odoi (shoulder), both of whom were substituted at halftime last weekend, are questionable for the upcoming match against Leeds. Dyche shared his thoughts on Sels' condition: "He is still experiencing some discomfort. We’ll be monitoring his situation over the next 48 hours as we prepare for the game, hoping for clarity soon."
Regarding Hudson-Odoi, Dyche remarked, "Callum suffered a shoulder knock after a somewhat awkward landing. We checked it out, and thankfully it’s not serious, though it’s quite painful. We’ll make a decision on him in the next 36 hours as we finalize our preparations for the game. Our long-term injury cases are progressing well, so that’s reassuring."
Unfortunately for Forest, Nicolo Savona, Chris Wood, and John Victor remain on the injury list. Adding to their woes, Neco Williams will be serving a one-match suspension due to a handball offense in Gameweek 24.
With both Williams and Savona unavailable, there’s potential for deadline-day signing Luca Netz to step into the full-back position. Dyche explained, "We’ve only seen Luca train today for the first time, so we will evaluate his readiness for the game. He is a young talent who brings balance to our squad, especially considering our limited options in that position. While there’s a focus on future development, there’s also an opportunity for him to contribute now."
